Giro Sport: Product Renderings, 3D Animation & Product Configurator

Giro Sport is a leader in outdoor sports specializing in bike helmets, skiing helmets, snowboarding helmets, goggles and other outdoor sport accessories.

The Problem

Prior to our partnership, Giro Helmets primarily relied on traditional product photography to generate images for their catalog. This process was not only time-consuming but also led to inconsistent and missed deadlines for their sales meetings and catalog delivery.

Occasionally photoshoots were planned but products were still to arrive at the studio, leading to reduce productivity. This also added additional costs, which were often not accounted for at the beginning of the project. The final images were at times inconsistent, and needed significant post processing. The company also needs to showcase intricate details and functioning of their products, which was often difficult or restrictive using traditional methods.

The pandemic in 2020 forced them to explore alternative options.

The Solution

If a manufacturer has a large product range with multiple variants of the same product, digital renderings is a good option to create visual assets. With this in mind, Giro partnered with Nashbox Studios to create awe-inspiring 3D product renderings and animations that have set a new benchmark in visualizing and presenting their cutting-edge products. The project included over 30 helmets, and 40 goggles. Each helmet has over 10 color variants and each goggle had three, making digital renderings the appropriate process for asset generation.

The Results

Every year, we deliver over 1200 images and 3-5 videos and interactive animations. 4 Nashbox team members work on the various projects, over a period of 8 to 12 weeks, depending upon the deliverables.

Overall, Giro has experienced a 17% reduction in CODB, without an impact on sales. The quality of the renderings is realistic, and even the cloth and fibers look lifelike. Below is a comparison between traditional photography and 3D rendering.

Product 3D Animation

Companies like Nike, Xbox and Shopify are investing heavily in product customization. This improves, among other things, client confidence, brand loyalty and also reduces returns. Product configurators can be connected to shopping carts, wherein clients can customize their products before placing orders.
